NACB is Advocating for State-led Cannabis Social Equity Programs

Cannabis prohibition has devastated communities and incarcerated 40,000 people – mostly people of color – for cannabis-related activities that are now legal in states across the U.S.

We can change this together. The National Association of Cannabis Businesses (NACB) is advocating for state-led cannabis social equity programs. These programs turn cannabis legalization into a force for economic and social revival in communities that were disproportionately impacted by the War on Drugs.

We have shared our Social Equity Guidelines with policymakers in every state. The NACB Guidelines are a roadmap that governors, state senators and representatives can use to create or expand a social equity program in their state. They comprise best practices and success drivers from diverse approaches to social equity programs already in place. The Guidelines include program goals and defined benefits for social equity applicants as well as strategies for judicial reform and reinvestment in disproportionately impacted areas. Read a summary of the Guidelines.

NOW, WE NEED YOU TO RAISE YOUR VOICES IN SUPPORT. Download our template Call to Action letter and send it to your legislators asking them to turn up the social equity dial in your state. Your voice counts! Make it understood you want to see a social equity policy in your community. Together, we can ensure the people most impacted by cannabis prohibition will have opportunities to start businesses and create jobs in the growing cannabis industry.
